Cosmetic Dentistry is the application of materials, restorations, and techniques to improve the colour, position, or the general appearance of teeth. It is an area that is rapidly gaining in popularity and acceptance amongst our patients, thanks to the development of new technologies and materials. You can see some patients' "Before and After" images.
Below are details of some of the principal cosmetic dentistry techniques that are available from Lincolnshire Smile Clinic, with actual photographs showing some of the remarkable transformations that are now possible.

| A. Tooth Whitening

| B. Veneers |

Veneers are thin porcelain shells, applied to the outer surface of teeth to improve the colour and hide any defects that might exist. For example, mottling, cracks, or severe discolouration of teeth can be treated very successfully with the application of our porcelain tooth veneers.
These are permanent solutions and remarkable results can be achieved, thanks to the use of the latest materials.
Veneers can also be used to improve the shape of teeth. Narrow or peg-shaped teeth, small gaps, or slight malpositioning can all be improved through the application of veneers.

| C. White fillings |

Large black amalgam fillings normally require replacement at some point in time, otherwise they might fracture or leak. Apart from being unsightly, they become rough and dark due to metal tarnish.
White fillings are an excellent way to return the tooth to its original colour and shape. White fillings could be applied directly (composites) or are laboratory precision manufactured (porcelain fillings).
In some cases, large cavities in molar teeth can be restored by using laboratory-made porcelain fillings. These can yield excellent aesthetic qualities that make them indistinguishable from natural tooth enamel. They are best suited to molars having moderate to large amalgam fillings. |

Ceramic or metal-free crowns (or caps) made entirely out of porcelain without any underlying metal. These can provide superior aesthetics under the right circumstances.
They are especially suited for front teeth, as no unsightly grey margins show — even if the gum shrinks. The photos on the left are actual examples showing front teeth before and after ceramic crowns were applied. |
